Why to become a clown

Did you have the same old stuff for breakfast? When you arrived at school, was your homework still in your bedroom? Did your older brother dye your dog’s hair bright red? Are there times when you would like to run away and join a circus? If this is your life, you have a lot of company.

You can change all this by letting a little bit of « clown » into your life. Hey, no big deal! It is easier than falling out of bed. Let me take you on a step- by-step trip that can bring you a lot of good times, help make new friends and will be healthier.

My name is « Muggins » and I am a Fantasy Clown. I entertain, appear in circuses, march in parades, play games, be your friend or make (if possible) your wish come true.

In short I do my best to fulfill your fantasy. Today, I am going to show you how to take a « bit of clown » and use it’s’ power to change your life.

The first thing you need to do is to be willing to let humor in. There are many ways to do this. My favorite is to look in a mirror when alone or behind a locked door (so none can see what I am doing) and make faces at myself. Remember which face you make that also makes you laugh. At first you might feel silly if so, stop and try again at a later time. Repeat until you can identify a few different faces that make you laugh.

Another thing you can do is laugh. It is best to do this when alone and no one else can hear you. Or, you can do this laughter with a very good friend. I like to repeat the following laugh: « ho-ho-ho, ha-ha-ha, and he-he-he ». It is fun to do this louder a louder, in deep voice then high voice. Sometimes I turn on some great music and sing this laugh along with the music. If you get tired of this laugh pattern, make up your own. You will soon find that things don’t bother you as much. You remember things better. You generally feel happy.

You soon learn to do these exercises whenever you feel bad, feel sick, angry or just want to feel good and have some fun.

Inside all of us there is a clown trying to come out. Next time you will learn how to find the clown inside you. Meanwhile, your homework assignment is to practice, practice and practice again these exercises that bring the clown into your life.
